In this blog post, we will delve into the findings of the survey, highlighting the various aspects of Ramadan in Egypt that make it such a special and memorable time for Egyptians. Observing Ramadan: According to the survey responses, an overwhelming majority (96%) of Egyptians actively observe Ramadan. This includes fasting from sunrise to sunset, engaging in increased prayer and worship, and refraining from indulging in worldly desires during daylight hours. The strong religious devotion observed throughout the month reflects the deep-rooted faith and spirituality ingrained in Egyptian culture. Family and Community Bonding: One of the most cherished aspects of Ramadan in Egypt is the emphasis on family and community bonding. The survey revealed that 87% of participants engage in collective iftar (the meal to break the fast) with their families. This sacred time brings loved ones together to share their daily experiences, reflect on their spiritual journey, and strengthen family ties. Moreover, 92% of respondents actively engage in acts of charity and social responsibility, such as distributing food and donations to the less fortunate, fostering a sense of community and compassion. Ramadan Traditions and Culinary Delights: Egyptian cuisine plays a significant role in the Ramadan experience, with unique dishes that are prepared exclusively during this month. These mouthwatering delicacies not only satisfy hunger but also add a touch of cultural richness to the month. Nightly Ramadan Activities: In Egypt, the streets come alive with vibrant colors, enchanting lights, and joyous celebrations during Ramadan nights. The survey findings showed that 79% of respondents actively participate in cultural activities, such as attending traditional folk performances, enjoying street decorations, and visiting mosques for nightly prayers. The spirit of community is further enhanced by engaging in Taraweeh prayers, which are performed collectively during the evenings.
